THE Police in Kelantan have identified recent Telegram advertisements promoting prostitution services at hotels in the state as part of a scam syndicate, with no evidence that such activities are occurring at any of the locations listed.
State police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said investigators had attempted to subscribe to the advertised services, only to find that no responses provided directions to any hotel.
“Investigations found that this is a scam syndicate operating through online advertisements,” he said.
Checks were conducted at several hotels named in the advertisements, and police confirmed that no prostitution activities were taking place.
Some hotel operators denied involvement in such activities, while others clarified that they did not accept walk-in guests and only catered to regular customers.
“Police have checked about 50 hotels in the state to detect prostitution activities, but all checks yielded negative results. It can be confirmed that there are no prostitution activities of this nature at any hotel in Kelantan,” Yusoff said.
He advised the public not to be misled by such online promotions and urged anyone encountering suspicious advertisements to report them promptly to the authorities.
Previously, police had confirmed investigations into the Telegram posts under laws related to prostitution and vice activities, emphasising that no offences had been detected at any physical location in the state. - December 31, 2025
