The police have issued a warning to the public against joining a rally scheduled to take place at the Public Car Park in front of the Seri Perdana Complex, Putrajaya.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa emphasized that the rally does not have the necessary permission from the venue owner, Putrajaya Corporation, as required under the Peaceful Assembly Act (Act 736). He warned that strict actions would be taken against anyone who participates in the event.
Rusdi stated that the police received a notification letter from the rally's organizer, Demi Negara, on June 14, but the venue's owner did not grant permission for the assembly. "The landowner, Putrajaya Corporation, does not allow the assembly there, and we advise the organizer, Demi Negara, not to proceed with the event," Rusdi said during a press conference at the Brickfields District Police Headquarters.
The police chief also mentioned that a video has been circulating on the TikTok platform, inviting the public to join the rally. So far, the police have received 85 reports related to this issue and have launched an investigation under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
In light of these developments, the police urge the public to heed the advice and refrain from participating in the rally. The authorities are committed to maintaining public order and ensuring that any assembly complies with legal requirements. The Peaceful Assembly Act mandates that organizers must obtain permission from the property owner to hold an event, failing which they would be in violation of the law.
The police are monitoring the situation closely and will not hesitate to take legal action against those who defy the advice. The public is reminded to prioritize safety and adhere to the regulations set forth to prevent any potential disruptions or legal consequences.
