A SHOCKING incident involving a police officer has rocked the force in Indonesia, as the officer was arrested for allegedly murdering his two-month-old baby.
The officer, identified as Brigadier AK, a member of the intelligence division under the Central Java Police Directorate of Security Intelligence (Ditintelkam), has been taken into custody after the tragic event, Sinar Harian reported citing a news agency.
The incident was reported by the officer's wife, DJP, 24, earlier last month.
According to initial investigations, DJP had left their infant with her husband while she went out shopping. Upon returning to her car, she was horrified to discover that her baby had gone stiff and appeared to have been strangled.
She immediately rushed the baby to the hospital, but the infant was declared dead upon arrival.
“The baby was confirmed dead at the hospital. The suspect has been apprehended and will undergo questioning,” said Kombes Pol Artanto, the Head of Public Relations at the Central Java Police, during a press conference on Tuesday.
Authorities have since exhumed the baby's grave to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of death. While the investigation is ongoing, the exact motive behind the officer's actions remains unclear.
“The case will be handled according to established procedures, regardless of the status of the suspect,” Artanto added.
The case has raised alarm within the police force, and the investigation is expected to proceed without bias, ensuring that justice is served. – March 12, 2025
