A police officer was fatally wounded by gunfire during a house search in the Canadian metropolis of Toronto, police chief Myron Demkiw said on Thursday.
A 19-year-old suspect was still on the run, he said, adding that police believed the man was armed and dangerous. He did not say whether the man was the shooter.
The operation was carried out in the morning and was linked to investigations into shots fired at the city's US consulate in March.
Several suspects
Officers initially reported two people injured in a shootout and taken to hospital, broadcaster CBC wrote. One was the 43-year-old police officer, police said. The other was another suspect who was still receiving medical treatment.
In the March incident, unknown suspects fired handguns at the US consulate in Toronto. Two men drove up in a car, got out and fired several shots at the building, Canadian police said. No one was injured.
