Policeman stabbed, shot; Woman’s body found in suspect’s car

A POLICEMAN was injured after being stabbed and shot by a man while on a patrol duty in the Simpang Pulai area in Ipoh early this morning.

The 1.15am incident led to the discovery of a woman's body in the back seat of the vehicle driven by the suspect.

Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the incident occurred when a team of policemen from the Simpang Pulai Police Station spotted the car at Taman Desa Pakatan.

He said the policemen tried to stop the car but the suspect sped away.

“The policemen then chased the suspect before his vehicle stopped in an oil palm plantation area.

“A struggle occurred between the suspect and a policeman before the suspect grabbed the victim’s gun and shot him in the stomach.

“In the incident, the suspect also stabbed the victim in the stomach before he fled with the firearm,” he said.

According to him, the 26-year-old policeman is in stable condition and is being treated at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB).

He said that further inspection of the vehicle left by the suspect led to the discovery of a woman's body in the back seat.

The identity of the victim has not yet been identified.

"The woman's body has been sent to the HRPB Forensic Department for identification and to determine the cause of her death," he said.

He added that police is actively tracking down the suspect who fled and is calling on anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.

"Those with any information are asked to contact the investigating officer of the case, Assistant Superintendent Fadli Ahmad at 012-2500019 to assist in the investigation.

"The case is being investigated under Section 302/307 of the Penal Code and Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971," he said. – September 7, 2025
