Based on allegations that Datuk Dr. Mashitah Ibrahim was involved in a human trafficking organization in Myanmar, the Malaysian Royal Police (PDRM) launched an investigation into the matter.

The former Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office was the subject of an investigation by PDRM, according to Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

In addition to opening an investigation paper, PDRM has received a complaint (report). Thus, let the investigation proceed first.

He was approached during the Sowing People's Love (Mekar) event in Kampung Baru Pulau Redang recently. "There is no need to create speculation; I leave it to PDRM's professionalism to investigate the charges in question," he stated, as reported by Kosmo.

In the same development, Saifuddin Nasution admitted that cross-border crime between Southeast Asian countries was very worrying.

"All countries (ASEAN) recognize the 'trend' of increasing cross-border crimes, including cases of human trafficking." We also agreed to share information on efforts to eradicate cross-border crime rather than continue to be free," he said.

The Malaysian International Community Humanitarian Association (MHO) was called to assist in the investigation of the human trafficking case in Myanmar, which was accused of involving the former Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Datuk Dr Mashitah Ibrahim, and her husband.

His Secretary General, Datuk Hishamuddin Hashim, said that he and MHO committee member Azirul Shafiq were called to assist in the investigation by the Malaysian Royal Police (PDRM).

"We will present to the D3 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom)) Division Official at 9.30 tomorrow morning," he said in a statement this evening.

Harian Metro reported that PDRM had recruited several article writers from the neighbouring country of Indonesia to help investigate the human trafficking case in Myanmar, which was charged with the murder of Mashitah and her husband.

State Police Chief Tan Sri Razarudin Husain reportedly said that the police were also still tracking a man with the title 'Datuk Seri' who was charged with being involved in the crime, for information to be taken.

Meanwhile, Hishamuddin was recently reported to have said that the modus operandi of this syndicate is to deceive victims online by offering attractive jobs before forcing the victims to work as online gambling fraud scammers.

He also reviewed a video that was spread on social media regarding the dismantling of a human trafficking syndicate in Myanmar entitled 'Border Hell: Traces of the Online Gambling Mafia and Digital Slavery in Asia' which was published in Indonesia.

"There are many among the Indonesian people who have fallen prey to this syndicate and openly," he said, also stating that the syndicate has been active since March 2020.

Last Thursday, Mashitah denied being involved in the activities of a human trafficking syndicate in Myanmar.
