- Politico has walked back a report on President Donald Trump’s chief of staff Susie Wiles after pressure from the White House.
- The Oct. 17 article suggested that Wiles had set up now-former White House press secretary Katie Zacharia’s disastrous interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News last week. The network denied that Wiles had been involved and Politico has corrected its story.
- It came after White House Counsel William Scharf demanded that Politico retract and apologise for three articles about Trump and his Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.

- Attorneys for Politico categorically rejected the allegations and pledged to defend its journalism against White House attempts to intimidate and punish reporters.
