Polytechnic student found dead in rented house

A MERLIMAU Polytechnic student was found dead in his rented house in an incident on Friday.

Jasin District Police Chief, Superintendent Lee Robert said police received a call about noon from the Sungai Rambai Health Clinic Medical Officer regarding the confirmation of a death at a house in Taman Merlimau Emas, Merlimau.

According to him, investigations found that the victim, Mohamad Zul Hakimi Abdul Rahman, 19, was found unconscious in front of his bedroom by a housemate.

“The victim’s housemate immediately called 999 to get initial paramedic assistance. However, the victim was confirmed dead at the scene of the incident.

“The victim had no history of illness and lived in a rented house with 14 other friends,” he said.

He said that initial police investigations found that there were no criminal elements on the victim's body and the case was classified as sudden death.

Meanwhile, Merlimau Polytechnic Melaka in a statement expressed its sorrow and condolences to the family over the passing of the third semester Diploma in Electrical Engineering student.

According to the statement, the deceased had just finished sitting for an exam in the morning and returned to his rented house before being found collapsed by a housemate.

"The autopsy results from the Jasin Hospital Forensic Unit found that death was caused by complications from serious high blood pressure.

"The body was brought back by the family to Kulai, Johor for burial," the statement said. – December 6, 2025
