If there were any doubts about Labubu’s staying power, Pop Mart’s latest move makes a compelling case otherwise. The Beijing-based collectibles giant has signed a lease for a sprawling new store at 680 Fifth Avenue, placing its viral character squarely in one of the world’s most prestigious retail corridors. Though there’s no confirmed opening date yet, here’s what we know so far.
The space spans approximately 7,000 square feet at the corner of East 54th Street, firmly in flagship territory. It also comes with high-profile neighbours: the store will sit next to Swarovski’s multi-level emporium and within close range of a new U.S. headquarters by one very famous luxury watchmaker. For a brand rooted in blind boxes and internet virality, the address signals a deliberate shift into luxury-adjacent retail.
The Fifth Avenue opening is part of a broader U.S. expansion strategy. Pop Mart has already secured another similarly sized space in Times Square, expected to serve as its American flagship when it opens in late 2026. Together, the two locations point to a long-term commitment to physical retail, translating online demand into immersive, in-person experiences.
Founded in Beijing, Pop Mart has built a global following through limited releases, surprise ‘blind box’ formats, and a roster of characters led by Labubu. The Fifth Avenue lease underscores how collectible culture has evolved into a serious retail force—one capable of holding its own alongside legacy luxury brands.
No official opening date has been announced, and details on the store’s design remain under wraps. But with the lease now confirmed, Pop Mart’s next chapter is set to unfold on one of the most-watched shopping streets in the world.
The retail push also arrives amid one of the brand’s biggest recent developments: a live-action and CGI Labubu film currently in early development with Sony Pictures, a move that signals Pop Mart’s growing ambitions beyond collectibles.
