Pope Leo XIV will travel to France from September 25-28, Holy See spokesman Matteo Bruni said on Saturday.
The trip is to take place at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, church authorities and UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany.
The Vatican has not yet published a travel itinerary. Bruni confirmed only that Leo will visit the headquarters of the UN cultural organization UNESCO in the French capital.
A month ago, Leo received Macron at the Vatican, the French head of state's first official meeting with the pope, who has been in office for a year.
Leo has not yet visited France as the head of the Catholic Church. However, at the end of March, he paid a one-day visit to the Principality of Monaco, situated between Italy and France on the Mediterranean.
