Popular chocolate milk recalled in US after complaints of ‘unpleasant taste and odor’

Chocolate milk made by Horizon Organic Dairy has been recalled after complaints of an unpleasant taste, odor or texture.
The US firm issued the voluntary recall in August for 12-packs and 18-packs of its Shelf-Stable (Aseptic) 1% Chocolate Milk, containing 8-ounce cartons, which were sold across the United States.
“A root cause investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the issues giving rise to the consumer complaints identified above, and corrective and preventive actions will be implemented to prevent recurrence,” the company wrote in a statement.
The FDA said a total of 53,760 cases were recalled. Shoppers were advised to look for the following information on labels to determine if your product has been recalled:
- 12-pack (UPC 742365002700) — Best Before/By: 28 JAN 2027; 30 JAN 2027; 31 JAN 2027; 01 FEB 2027; 02 FEB 2027; 03 FEB 2027
- 18-pack (UPC 742365208867) — Best Before/By: 31 JAN 2027; 01 FEB 2027; 02 FEB 2027
