LABUAN: Former Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Datuk Hiew King Cheu said the Sabah Royal Malaysian Customs Department and other agencies kudos for the recent seizures of black market fags and beer worth millions of ringgit.
He said the success scored speaks of efficient enforcement and also, more importantly, the results helped curb substantial leakages of revenue which is reported to run into billions of ringgit annually.
Hiew, however, added that in order to ensure that there was no space for speculation, the authority should make known how the seized contraband are disposed. “Are they auctioned off or destroyed?”
