Five criminals, claiming to be CIA staff, entered a Zirakpur jewellery showroom and kidnapped the owner, threatening to implicate him in a case of buying stolen goods. The accused handcuffed Panchkula resident Gaurav Goyal and made him sit in an SUV, beat him up on the way and demanded Rs 10 lakh. Later, by creating an atmosphere of fear, they extorted Rs 5 lakh and fled. The police have arrested three accused in the case, while the search for two others is on.

Goyal in his complaint stated that he runs MG Jewellers on the Chandigarh-Ambala Road. On June 5, around 3:50 pm a black SUV stopped outside his shop. Three men got out of the car, one wearing a khaki turban and khaki pants. Another man was holding a file, while another man was holding a handcuff.

Upon entering the shop, the accused slapped him and claimed he had sold stolen goods to another jeweller. They then accused Gaurav of purchasing stolen goods and stated that a case had been filed against him.

Moments later, they handcuffed him and took his mobile phone and car keys. The accused also took along another employee, Joginder Singh. Two other people were already sitting in the SUV.

On the way, the accused, assaulted him. One of the accused pulled out a knife and demanded Rs 10 lakh and threatened to kill him if he did not pay. The accused then took him to a McDonald’s in Zirakpur and called his father from there. Later, they returned to MG Jewellers and forced the victims to pay Rs 5 lakh. After taking the money, the accused fled the scene.
