The 10th PM, Anwar Ibrahim in his effort and in his own words to restore Malaysia’s dignity and glory in the global arena launched the Malaysia Madani concept.
Usually, these concepts are the brainchild of the recipients of fat pay cheques from a think tank having the niche credentials of engaging in public relations which may be in the case of the past Prime Ministers.
These slogans after some hype would soon come to mean nothing and would only end up as toys like a rattler or a pacifier for the Rakyat to play with for a while giving them hope before the real rot sets in.
Their objective in layman’s terms would be to perfume the PM’s machinery so that it smells like the inside of a brand-new car.
The car’s cabin fragrance can easily be restored by replenishable air fresheners when the smell goes bad but unfortunately, the Rakyat has to bear the foul smell from the promises made and burnt by the PM’s office for five long years.
The Madani or Script is the reflection of Anwar Ibrahim’s experience in public service for over four decades which he is now having an uphill task of implementing. Nothing seems to be going as outlined in his thesis and in fact, no real changes have taken place to date.

SCRIPT stands for Sustainability, Care and Compassion, Respect, Innovation, Prosperity, and Trust.
MADANI is in Malay for SCRIPT which is M-kemampanan, A-kesejahteraan, D-daya cipta, A-hormat, N-keyakinan and I-ihsan.
While it is a well-planned, well-meant and well-scripted endorsement to better Malaysia from the other failed Governments that once ruled, nonetheless it seems like it is not adhering to the script in real life. Or maybe one needs to read between the lines?
Adjectives are words that add pomp and value to enhance other words to give depth to writing and speaking and make it more interesting. The words used in the PM’s Script concept are also adjectives.
The SCRIPT or the MADANI concept is outlined in some detail in the NST issue, January 19, 2023, at 2:45 pm and it is recommended that the reader gets an understanding of the vision proposed by the current Government.
The diagram above is a visual flow of the parameters involved in the grand task of realising the ultimate goal.

The diagram as published by the Prime Minister’s Office is further simplified in the one I have given above.
This diagram will show the painstaking effort Anwar Ibrahim has taken to develop such a roadmap to take the country to a different level.
Let us make an analysis of this government’s track record after GE15 using the SCRIPT or the MADANI declaration as a checklist for compliance. The analysis using the MADANI SCRIPT will only be from a chosen few out of a voluminous database and presented in a bullet format with the SCRIPT adjectives highlighted when necessary.
The Vision set by the Government to build a Prosperous Malaysia based on Sustainability, Care, Compassion, Respect, Innovation, Prosperity and Mutual Trust still remains unfathomable adjectives as of yet. They have not been entirely accurate in their objectives. While the larger Rakyat remain poor and struggles to keep their heads above water, the Madani Government on the other hand raise eyebrows springing surprises.

Madani Government Fact Sheet
FACT
The fastest-moving products in shopping centres are instant noodles, Ikan Kembong, potatoes and the cheaper variety of green vegetables like Bok Choy etc. Imported rice, other than the locally harvested and fully subsidised variety has become a connoisseur’s choice that only the rich can afford.
FACT
The huge number of advertisements by private loan syndicates (Sharks) in the classified columns of the local newspapers proves that they have a very marketable product available for the desperate Rakyat. Such desperate options may invite harassment, red paint splashes, broken bones and other nightmares for desperadoes who do not pay up.

FACT
The increasing number in the p-hailing sector is an indication that a primary income is not sufficient and a secondary, a necessity.
A 30-second TikTok video uploaded by user@kimmmo would explain the dire consequences Malaysians are ready to face in making a living. The clip is about delivering food to a soldier with only the lights from the rider’s motorcycle in a jungle.
One should take note of the state of these delivery riders who are daredevils inviting harm and even death.
They are poorly dressed, braving the weather and pushing fate with no concern for their own safety and definitely not that of other road users.
Challenging the clock day in and day out they rush to make as much as they can, some even politely beg for tips, a few extra Ringgit and a five-star rating from the client via messaging before they make the delivery.
The Statistics Department in 2022 found that a study which involved a total of 6,657 p-hailing riders:
39.54% had a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia Vokasional (SPMV) or equivalent.
23.24% had a Diploma or equivalent.
11.79% had a Bachelor's Degree.
97.71% of them were youths aged 15 to 30.
2.29% were aged 60 and above.

FACT
Care and Compassion are displayed by the Government through many schemes to alleviate hardship. These initiatives are one-off disbursements construed as care for the Rakyat that is usually quite rampant before any major or minor election.
FACT
Fund allocations sanctioned for the B40 groups show very little progress being synonymous with blood flow through blocked arteries. Funds are siphoned off by the very people who have been chosen to manage them
FACT
Money just goes missing but the thieves are not brought to justice due to poor enforcement even with the state-of-the-art technology used in accounting and auditing that Malaysia boasts about.
FACT
The Unit Transformasi Masyarakat India Malaysia (MITRA) is just one example of such a case but the list goes on without an end.
FACT
Thanks to this the B40 is fated to remain to be B40 forever, Kudos to our leaders.
FACT
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the collection of 40 hadith by Imam Al-Nawawi, would be beneficial to teachers and students to gain appreciation during the launch by The Ministry of Education at SMKA Putrajaya. She quoted one of the Hadiths, ‘Ad-Deen An Nasihah’ which means that religion is advice and said ‘Especially in a time when there is a flood of idols and a drought of role models.’
That was the seventh Hadith she quoted and not taken to task for why she mentioned Idols and a drought of role models and what she meant by it.
FACT
Why was there no mention of the 8 Hadith by the Minister which clearly states ‘I have been ordered to fight against people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammed is the messenger of Allah and until they perform the prayers and pay the zakat, and if they do so they will have gained protection from me for their lives and property unless they do acts that are punishable in accordance with Islam, and their reckoning will be with Allah the Almighty.’
How does a Minister who is presumed to be intelligent and assumed to have leadership skills not see the flaw in giving an avenue to violence in schools?
Bullying in schools is already quite rampant and with the introduction of the 40 hadith by Imam Al-Nawawi, the 8 Hadith is an issuance of a licence to bully, maim and maybe kill non-Muslim students. Where is the Malaysia Madani in this?

FACT
On Thursday, 10 Aug 2023, Fadhlina the Minister of Education was reported to have said that there would be no compromise on bullying, immorality and racial segregation in schools which will only defy the content in the 8th Hadith confuse the young Muslim Rakyat.
FACT
Within hours after attaining conditional freedom from a government-botched trial, the Deputy PM began showing his true colours again. He was caught verbally bribing voters with promises of upgrading their housing project if his candidate won the by-election, another attempt to establish his loyalty to God and country.
FACT
How did this man with 47 charges get a discharge not amounting to an acquittal or a DNAA? Experts in the field say that the Government has not only failed to nail him but also convince the people of what had happened.
FACT
The turn of events which led to a DNAA was after the ex-senior deputy public prosecutor Raja Rozela Raja Toran opted for an early retirement and then came the smell of a rat.
FACT
The PM said he had nothing to do with the AG’s decision to submit Zahid’s DNAA application to the court but in actual fact, the AG is supposed to have discussed it with him because Anwar Ibrahim is still his boss.
FACT
Mahathir’s first slogan was Wawasan 2020 or Vision 2020.
Mahathir’s second slogan was Bersih, Cekap, Amanah or Clean, Efficient, Trustworthy.
Badawi’s slogan cum model was Islam Hadhari or Civilisational Islam.
Najib’s slogan was Satu Malaysia or One Malaysia.
Mahathir’s slogan second time as the PM was Malaysia Baharu or New Malaysia.
Muhyiddin’s slogan was Malaysia Prihatin or Malaysia Cares
Ismail Sabri's slogan was Keluarga Malaysia or Malaysian Family.
The Malaysia Madani concept just like every other prime minister's slogan, model or concept is also showing signs of crumbling and only time will tell if Anwar’s concept will weather the storm and he walks the talk.
