Kota Kinabalu: Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, Lada Phumas, paid a courtesy call on State Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Phoong Jin Zhe at the Sabah International Convention Centre, here, Friday.
Accompanying her were Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) Director to Malaysia, Worawan Wanwil, and five Thai companies and authorities related to green energy.
During the courtesy call, Phoong informed the Thai delegation that Sabah has massive untapped potential for investments, especially in agriculture, as many farms are still adopting primitive methods compared to Thailand’s advanced farming technologies.
Phoong said as Thailand has achieved a self-sufficiency level (SSL) of 100 per cent and is able to export produce, Sabah could learn a lot from Thailand as the State endeavours towards increasing its relatively low SSL.

He added that Sabah is fully open to Thai investors and is keen on establishing a two-way cooperation that could yield mutual benefits on both sides.
Phoong also proposed for a Thailand-Sabah fair to be organised in the future in order for entrepreneurs and businesses from both sides to conduct business matching and foster closer bilateral ties.
Phumas received Phoong’s sentiments positively, and agreed that Thailand and Sabah could work together, especially in the green industry, as both sides have policies that coincide with BCG, which is a global trend.
She was happy to learn that Sabah welcomes Thai investors and would also like Sabah to make investments in Thailand in order to establish a win-win cooperation.
