KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity has confirmed a major power outage affecting several east coast districts including Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Kinabatangan, Kunak, Semporna and Beluran following a disruption to the 275kV Kolopis-Segaliud transmission line.

Chief Operating Officer Mohd Yusmanizam Mohd Yusof said the outage began at 5.05pm on Saturday and supply restoration is being carried out in stages.

He added that technical teams are investigating the cause of the transmission line tripping, while severe weather conditions may have contributed to the disruption.

“Our teams are working hard to detect the fault and restore supply as quickly as possible, though the weather remains a challenge,” he said in a statement.

Sabah Electricity apologised for the inconvenience and thanked affected customers for their patience, assuring that updates on the power supply status would be provided through its social media platforms.
