The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), including its Tuberculosis Ward, was also affected, according to information provided on Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) Careline Facebook Page. State Health Director Datuk Dr Rose Nani Mudin said there was no electricity between 6.16pm to 7pm, but there was a backup supply using a generator set.

“Now the power supply is already back to normal. SESB is already on standby to help us if needed,” she said in response to Daily Express.

SESB, in a statement on Wednesday, said the power outage in several areas in Sabah and Labuan on Tuesday night was fully restored at 10.06pm.

"A technical installation failure at one of Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd's (SESB) Main Intake Substations caused several primary power plants to shut down,” said the utility firm.

“Subsequently, it resulted in the Sabah Grid system losing 200MW of capacity,” it said.

Following that, the supply restoration is carried out in stages starting at 8pm, and the investigation into the cause of the damage is still being carried out.

“SESB apologises for any inconvenience caused to users during the power outages,” added the statement.
