Prasarana Rail Reliability Hits Record High, Disruptions Halved

As of July 2025, the rail operator posted a Mean Kilometre Between Failure (MKBF) of 0.54 million km with only 24 service disruptions, a sharp improvement from 0.33 million km with 71 disruptions in 2024 and 0.16 million km with 118 disruptions in 2023.

image is not available Group president and CEO Amir Hamdan credited the progress to a series of targeted upgrades, including a Condition-Based Maintenance programme, mid-life refurbishment of Ampang Line trains, and signalling system improvements on the Kajang Line.

“Managing millions of passenger journeys daily is a great trust that we bear, to ensure every commuter enjoys a safe and comfortable journey,” Amir said, adding that special maintenance projects have boosted both system availability and passenger confidence.
