A pregnant woman and her 35-week-old unborn child died after the Perodua Myvi she was driving was believed to have skidded and crashed into a house wall.
In an official statement by PDRM in Kluang, Johor, the district Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the victim, Siti Aisyah Harun, 32, was travelling from Kampung Melayu towards Kluang town with a passenger, Siti Aishah Rahimi, 28.
“The vehicle that the victim was driving skidded on its own and crashed into the house wall at the side of the road.”
“Both the victim and the passenger were then taken to the Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang for treatment.”
The fetus had to be surgically removed
At 8 PM on the day of the incident (Saturday, February 8), the woman’s unborn child, unfortunately, had to be surgically removed because it had died in the womb.
The mother, who was also the driver died the next day due to internal bleeding in her abdomen and internal injuries to the pancreas, as well as the liver.
The passenger, on the other hand, only suffered minor injuries to her left arm and right forehead and is receiving outpatient treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
In its statement, PDRM also reminded all road users to be careful on the road.
