A 21-year-old former security guard has been brought before the Batu Pahat Magistrate's Court to face two criminal charges linked to an alleged violent outburst involving his pregnant wife. The accused, Danial Azrey Affendy Mohd Noradi, denied both accusations when they were read out before Magistrate Arun Noval Dass.

The first charge relates to an incident on June 7, where he is said to have physically assaulted his 22-year-old wife at their home in Taman Desa Sri Banang. The alleged assault reportedly included kicking her in the stomach and striking her head against a wall. Legal proceedings for this charge fall under Section 323 of the Penal Code, read alongside Section 326A, which pertains to intentionally causing hurt to a spouse and carries an enhanced penalty.

On the same day, just under two hours later, he was also accused of damaging his wife's motorcycle in Kampung Rahmat/Kampung Nawi Jaya by forcefully kicking it. The incident resulted in a loss valued at RM58. For this act, he was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which deals with committing mischief and provides for imprisonment of up to five years, a fine, or both upon conviction.

According to details from a police report lodged at Batu Pahat police station, the couple had a disagreement after the wife, who is reportedly two weeks pregnant with their second child, requested her husband’s assistance in traveling to Kulai to collect a baby cradle. When the request was declined and she attempted to convince him otherwise, the situation allegedly turned violent. She claimed that her husband became enraged, pulled her hair, and assaulted her physically, prompting the formal complaint.

Danial Azrey was represented in court by lawyer Zulyatie Awang, while the prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Firdaus Ruslan. The court granted bail at RM4,000 and imposed additional conditions requiring the accused to report to the nearest police station every three weeks.

The court has scheduled the next mention of the case for July 14, allowing both parties time to prepare for further proceedings. As the case unfolds, it will be closely watched for how the legal system addresses acts of domestic violence, especially involving vulnerable victims.
