IN her upcoming memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney Spears drops a bombshell, reflecting on how she had once become pregnant with Justin Timberlake’s baby two decades ago before having an abortion.
The memoir, due for release tomorrow, had an excerpt published by People detailing that the Grammy-winning pop star went through the procedure due to Timberlake not wanting to be a father because he was not ready.
Spears writes that the pregnancy was a surprise, and for her, it “was not a tragedy”.
“I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” she wrote.
According to her, Timberlake had a different view on the situation, as he “definitely was not happy about the pregnancy”. “He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young”.
Looking at the timeline of events, Timberlake was not wrong, as the former couple were in their late teens and early 20s when they dated from 1999 to 2002. “If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” she continued in the book.
In the years that followed after their split, Spears would go on to welcome two sons with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, while Timberlake became a father to two sons after marrying actress Jessica Biel in 2012.
