Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Openg met with PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to discuss the formation of a federal administration.
Following the 15th General Election (GE15), none of the three leading candidates came close to winning the necessary simple majority to establish a government.
"Along with independent MPs, other parties are the subject of negotiations. If God wills, a federal government will soon be established.", Muhyiddin stated in his tweet.
Although Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional received the highest numbers of chairs, 82 and 73 chairs respectively, the union between both parties is unlikely to happen.
This is due to Muhyiddin Yassin not wanting to collude with Pakatan Harapan, claiming that Pakatan Harapan was cruel when they were in power before. This statement is derived from an interview with New Straits Times on November 15.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin criticized the Pakatan Harapan coalition and its constituent party DAP for failing to prioritize the agenda of the bumiputera people and for acting cruelly during its brief 22-month period in power from 2018 to 2020.
"There were issues while PH was in charge of the nation. However, when I asked Shah Alam's residents, they said that they would reject PH."
"I want to demonstrate how, throughout the PH's reign of the nation, bumiputera rights were neglected despite the fact that bumiputeras are essential to the prosperity of the nation.
During a recent ceramah, Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman and Bersatu (PPBM) president made the following statement to the audience: "Last time we had the National Economic Policy, now replaced by the National Development Policy, but it is important for me to state that PN is committed to ensure that bumiputeras control at least 30% of the economy in the country.
He said that while the People's Party was in power, he served as the Home Minister and was responsible for overseeing a number of significant laws, including the Sedition Act.
He admitted that a few other PH leaders and DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng, who was the finance minister at the time, had been pressuring him to repeal the Sedition Act.
Muhyiddin emphasized that such a significant act could not be repealed because it protects important constitutional provisions like the role of the Malay Rulers, the unique rights and privileges of bumiputeras, the declaration of Islam as the official religion while respecting other religions, and the designation of Bahasa Malaysia as the official language of the nation.
"I could not support such an action. Another measure made by PH was to pressure the allocation set aside for a few institutions created by the previous administration, such as Ekuinas, a private equity company formed in 2009 to promote bumiputera economic participation.
