TAWAU: Sri Tanjong Assemblyman Justin Wong called on the government to develop Jalan Sin Onn with a long-term perspective than rush through projects hastily.

He regretted the Public Works Department’s (JKR) decision to construct two traffic roundabouts to support the development of The Weld, including widening the one-way road and raising the road surface, deeming it incompatible with the needs of Jalan Sin Onn residents.

“Residents of Jalan Sin Onn need a two-way road, not a hastily executed project.

“If only the current development plans are considered without taking into account long-term traffic needs, in 10 to 15 years, this road may no longer accommodate the increasing number of vehicles, leading to even worse congestion,” he said.

Justin argued that instead of widening the one-way road and constructing traffic roundabouts, the government should adopt a more forward-thinking approach.
