Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe admits he is confident of securing Cameron Archer on loan.
The 29-year-old was outstanding with the Deepdale club last term, scoring seven goals in 20 Championship games.
As Aston Villa decide on his future for the coming season, Lowe hopes his relationship with Villa boss Steven Gerrard will help him as well.
He told Sky Sports News: "I think with Cameron, it is down to him and what he wants to do. We're in the market for a couple of strikers also.
"He wants to represent Aston Villa and for him to get more games under his belt in a competitive league like the Championship, that may be the way forward. I'm quietly confident.
"I've spoken to Steven Gerrard and what could happen is he's [at Villa] for pre-season and doesn't go [out on loan] anymore."
