KUALA LUMPUR — The price of the BAS.MY 30-day Unlimited Travel Pass for stage buses across the nation has been reduced from RM50 to RM30 per month, allowing the public to enjoy unlimited rides for as little as RM1 per day.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that the price cut, which takes effect immediately, aims to alleviate the public’s cost of living, Bernama reported.
He added that the move could save commuters between RM200 and RM300 each month.
Loke also highlighted that the Johor Bahru Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme has achieved the highest ridership in the country, with an average of 940,000 passengers per month this year since its launch in 2022.
“The BAS.MY programme in Johor Bahru now covers 21 routes, up from 18 previously. The Federal Government is investing RM134.94 million over two years, with RM67.47 million allocated annually, to ensure that SBST services continue to benefit the people,” Loke explained.
He urged BAS.MY operators in Johor Bahru to work towards reaching a monthly ridership of one million passengers.
“This initiative is available only to Malaysian citizens, with non-citizens continuing to pay the full fare. The price reduction will also be expanded to all states offering BAS.MY services, so more people can take advantage of this benefit,” he said during a press conference at Sutera Mall after launching the Johor Bahru BAS.MY Stage Bus Service Transformation Programme.
Loke also revealed plans for BAS.MY Medik, a new service for transporting dialysis patients, disabled individuals, and wheelchair users, which is set to launch in Johor Bahru by the end of the year. The service will include modified vans that can transport patients from their homes to medical facilities.
“Two vans will be dedicated to this service, and users can book them via mobile apps or phone calls,” he said.
Meanwhile, Loke confirmed that he would be visiting the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) project site to monitor its progress and ensure the construction is on track.
He said that fares for the RTS Link would be finalised soon, in collaboration with the operator. - November 3, 2025
