Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received assurance from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah that the Palace had no intention of meddling in political affairs during their meeting today. The Prime Minister stated that the Agong had given his Madani government the go-ahead to continue governing the country after they discussed Cabinet matters.

In a statement following the meeting, Anwar said, "Today, as usual, I went to His Royal Highness the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah to inform him of the affairs of the Cabinet tomorrow and also to provide updates on some current developments. The Agong has ordered me as the prime minister and the Madani government to continue with our work in managing the country. The Agong also said the palace will not interfere nor get involved in political affairs."

Anwar also mentioned that any proposals for donations ranging from RM500 million to RM750 million should be directed towards the hardcore poor and those eligible for zakat aid (golongan asnaf).

The assurance comes in the wake of reports by the Community Communications Department deputy director-general (J-KOM), Datuk Ismail Yusop, claiming that there were efforts to topple the government involving leaders from both sides of the political spectrum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was alleged that a substantial amount, ranging from RM500 million to RM750 million, was being offered to entice MPs to switch sides in a bid to overthrow the current government.

These reports of a purported attempt to overthrow the government have sparked concern and debate across the political landscape. Opposition leaders have called for transparency and accountability, urging the government to address these claims seriously. They have emphasized the need to uphold the democratic process and ensure that any allegations of such nature are thoroughly investigated.

Meanwhile, government officials have refuted these allegations, labeling them as baseless and an attempt to destabilize the current administration. They have reassured the public that the government is stable and focused on addressing the nation's priorities, including economic recovery and public health amidst the ongoing challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister's statement regarding the Agong's assurance of non-interference by the Palace in political matters is significant, as it reaffirms the government's legitimacy and authority to govern. It also underscores the importance of upholding the constitutional framework and respecting the roles of different institutions within the country.

The coming days are likely to see further developments and discussions regarding these allegations and the government's response to them. The Prime Minister's assertion of the Agong's support for the government's continuity provides a sense of stability amid these turbulent times, reassuring the public and the international community of Malaysia's commitment to upholding democratic principles and the rule of law.

The Prime Minister's assertion of the Agong's support for the government's continuity provides a sense of stability amid these turbulent times, reassuring the public and the international community of Malaysia's commitment to upholding democratic principles and the rule of law.

In response to the allegations of a move to topple the government, there have been calls for transparency and accountability from various quarters of society. Civil society organizations, in particular, have emphasized the need for a thorough and impartial investigation into these claims to uphold the integrity of the country's democratic process.

The government's ability to effectively address these allegations and maintain stability will be closely watched both domestically and internationally. Any perceived threats to the democratic process or political stability could have implications for Malaysia's standing on the global stage and its ability to attract investment and foster economic growth.

As the nation navigates these challenges, the role of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as a symbol of unity and stability becomes increasingly important. His assurance of non-interference in political affairs is a significant reaffirmation of the constitutional framework that governs Malaysia's democratic system.

Moving forward, it will be essential for all stakeholders, including the government, opposition, civil society, and the public, to work together to uphold the principles of democracy, transparency, and accountability. By doing so, Malaysia can overcome these challenges and continue on its path towards progress and prosperity for all its citizens.
