Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim graced the Madani Buka Puasa event at the Seri Perdana Complex this evening, sharing the breaking of fast with media practitioners. His arrival at 6.57pm was accompanied by warm greetings from his wife, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, as well as interactions with invited guests, comprising 200 members representing print, electronic, and online media from over 70 local media agencies, including those from Sabah and Sarawak, as well as international media clubs and media veterans.

Among the distinguished attendees were Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chung Wai, CEO Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, and Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, alongside Media Prima Bhd Group chairman Datuk Seri Syed Hussian Aljunid and NSTP Group Managing Editor Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman.

During the event, Anwar extended assistance to 20 current and former media practitioners facing health challenges through donations from Tabung Kasih@Hawana and Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (Pernas). Tabung Kasih@Hawana, established in conjunction with National Journalists Day (Hawana) 2023, serves as an initiative by the Communications Ministry, administered by Bernama, to support media professionals in times of need.

Following the breaking of fast, Anwar led the congregation in Maghrib prayers, conducted by Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) officer Abdul Karim Zakaria.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Department, the event was described as an annual tradition aimed at fostering closer bonds with media practitioners and expressing gratitude for their dedicated efforts in delivering news to the public. The gathering serves as a platform to recognize the invaluable contributions of media professionals and strengthen collaboration between the government and the media fraternity.

Through initiatives like the Madani Buka Puasa event, the government reaffirms its commitment to promoting transparency, openness, and mutual respect in its relationship with the media. Such engagements reflect the importance of constructive dialogue and partnership in advancing the nation's progress and ensuring the dissemination of accurate and timely information to the public.
