In a major move towards addressing issues of religious deviation, the Malaysian government has unveiled a voluntary rehabilitation programme for members of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) and its followers, who are still unaccounted for. This initiative, designed to guide individuals back to the true teachings of Islam, is part of a broader effort to restore their faith and reintegrate them into society.

The three-month programme, announced by the National Security Council (MKN) deputy director-general Datuk Baharuddin Ahmad, officially begins and will be open for registration until November 14. The programme is open to all GISBH members, irrespective of their age or gender, marking a significant step in the government's mission to tackle this issue with compassion and understanding.

Programme to Restore Faith and Provide Systematic Guidance

Datuk Baharuddin explained that the programme was initiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to provide systematic and structured guidance to GISBH members on matters of faith. It also aims to offer a pathway for them to lead a normal life after the government’s recent enforcement actions against the organization. "Participants will not be treated as criminals," he emphasized, "but rather as victims who need support to return to the correct path."

This move is in line with the MADANI government's approach to uphold the principles of humanity and social welfare. The government is framing this rehabilitation effort as a humane response, focusing on healing and reintegration rather than punishment.

Multiple Registration Channels Available

GISBH members who wish to participate can register online via a designated form or scan the provided QR code. Alternatively, in-person registration is available at all State Islamic Religious Offices, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) offices, and District Police Headquarters across the country.

Baharuddin assured the public that the MKN has put in place robust systems to ensure that all data collected during the registration process is handled smoothly and securely. For those who face threats or intimidation for wanting to join, the MKN encourages them to lodge a police report so that appropriate action can be taken.

Collaboration Across Government Agencies for a Unified Effort

To ensure the success of the programme, multiple government agencies are working together. The Health Ministry, Education Ministry, Foreign Ministry, Royal Malaysian Police, and all state Islamic religious departments are collaborating under the leadership of the MKN to offer a comprehensive rehabilitation plan.

This initiative also includes international cooperation, as GISBH members residing abroad in countries such as Australia, the United States, and Bosnia and Herzegovina are invited to participate. The MKN and JAKIM are developing suitable methods to accommodate these overseas members.

Comfortable Rehabilitation Facilities Nationwide

More than 20 rehabilitation centers, including facilities in Sabah and Sarawak, have been designated for the programme. Comfortable accommodation and meals will be provided to all participants free of charge, ensuring a supportive environment for their recovery.

Throughout the programme, GISBH members will receive education on faith (aqidah), Islamic law (syariah), health, nation-building, and vocational skills. They will also undergo an assessment at the end of the 90-day period, conducted by JAKIM, to determine if further guidance is necessary.

Commitment to Sustainable Reintegration

This rehabilitation programme reflects the government’s long-term commitment to helping GISBH members heal and reintegrate into society. "We are fully dedicated to ensuring that participants not only recover their faith but also gain the skills and support necessary to thrive in their communities," Baharuddin added.

By focusing on both spiritual and practical recovery, the government hopes that this initiative will enable GISBH members to rebuild their lives, leaving behind any deviant teachings and contributing positively to the nation.
