Prince William joins world leaders at King Harald V of Norway’s funeral

  • The Prince of Wales represented King Charles III at the funeral of King Harald V of Norway in Oslo, joining a walking procession behind the gun carriage carrying the late monarch’s coffin from the Royal Palace to Oslo Cathedral.
  • Prince William processed alongside his aunt, the Princess Royal, as well as a large gathering of foreign royalty and international political leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
  • Thousands of mourners lined the streets of Oslo to pay their respects to King Harald V, who died on 28 August aged 89 after a 35-year reign during which he was praised as an inclusive, modernising monarch.
  • Norway’s new monarch, King Haakon VIII, led the royal family directly behind the coffin, while the widowed Queen Sonja and the new Queen Mette-Marit followed the procession by car.
