Private Amirul's death: Police have called 16 witnesses

POLICE have called 16 witnesses to give their statements so far to assist in the investigation into the death of Private Muhammad Amirul Raziq Rosafindi.

Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said they did not rule out the possibility of calling more witnesses to complete the investigation papers.

The deceased Muhammad Amirul, aged 24,  had on April 11 suffered serious injuries believed to have been beaten in an incident at the 25th RAMD Battalion Military Camp, in Bentong, and died while receiving treatment at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital, Temerloh.

“A post mortem was conducted on Saturday evening, and the body was buried. Police are still awaiting the autopsy report.

“The suspect was earlier charged under Section 325 and is still being detained for five days.

“We have since reclassified this case under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said during a press conference today.

He said this after presenting 14 certificates of appreciation to members and officers in conjunction with the Pahang Police Contingent Headquarters Monthly Assembly for April 2026 today.

Yahaya said police did not plan to set up a special team to investigate the case, but confirmed that the Malaysian Armed Forces had done so.

Muhammad Amirul died at 9.45 am last Saturday, and his body was buried at the Felda Sungai Kelamah Peace Cemetery, Gemas, Negeri Sembilan.

Muhammad Amirul was seriously injured, believed to have been beaten by a suspect believed to be dissatisfied with some cleaning work on March 31.

The Army Public Relations Cell, in a statement, announced that based on initial investigations, a Junior Non-Commissioned Officer used force by slapping and punching seven members of the camp in the face and stomach.

Bentong District Police Chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar, reportedly said that initial investigations found that the suspect is believed to have hit, punched and kicked the victim in several parts of the body.

Investigations also found that six other victims, aged between 19 and 22, were with him during the incident and were reported to be receiving treatment for minor injuries. – April 15, 2026
