The National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA) has urged the Haryana Government to immediately release pending reimbursement amounts under Rule 134-A, Section 12(1)(c) of the Right to Education Act, the Chirag Scheme and other government-sponsored education initiatives, claiming that payments have remained outstanding since 2015.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, National Independent Schools Alliance national president Kulbhushan Sharma said private schools had been implementing various student welfare schemes, including providing free admissions, but had not received reimbursements for several years.
He said the prolonged delay had placed thousands of private educational institutions under severe financial stress. Sharma warned that if the pending reimbursements were not released by June 15, private schools and their representative organisations would be compelled to seek legal remedies.
“Schools are managing salaries of teachers and staff, EPF, ESI, building maintenance, transportation, electricity, water and other operational expenses from their limited resources,” he said.
The alliance demanded that all pending payments under the 134-A Scheme from the 2014-15 academic session onwards be released along with applicable interest.
“We ask the government to release reimbursement under the Right to Education Act at the rate of Rs 1,750 per student per month without further delay. Such a step would strengthen trust between private schools and the government and ensure that admissions of children belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) are not adversely affected,” Sharma said.
