Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says private sector involvement is vital for delivering tangible, widely shared growth under the Madani framework.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasised the critical role of the private sector in driving the nation’s economic agenda.

He stated that greater involvement from entrepreneurs is vital to ensure the MADANI Economy delivers meaningful and sustainable growth.

The framework aims to raise the country’s growth ceiling and uplift living standards through governance reforms.

Anwar said the government is now focused on delivering tangible outcomes through policies reflecting current realities.

Consequently, the Prime Minister’s Office and Finance Ministry will engage institutions to track progress via quarterly reports.

He outlined these priorities after chairing a meeting with Bumiputera investment institutions.

Key focuses include accelerating investments in Bumiputera small and medium enterprises.

Another priority is strengthening support for high-potential firms to scale up and compete effectively.

“At the same time, we want to see more Bumiputera companies progressing,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.

This includes achieving a target of 10 new IPOs on Bursa Malaysia between 2026 and 2027.

He also underscored the importance of developing human capital in a competitive global environment.

The government is encouraging the expansion of high-income Technical and Vocational Education and Training programmes.

Parallel efforts will widen job opportunities and strengthen social mobility pathways for low-income groups.

“The Bumiputera agenda cannot remain confined to seminars and announcements,” Anwar stressed.

He concluded it must be translated into tangible outcomes that benefit the wider population.
