PRN Johor: Hishammuddin: Reject politics of hatred, prioritise harmony

MEMBER of Parliament for Sembrong, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, said he was grateful that people in his constituency continued to reject the politics of hatred and prioritised harmony.

He said that the culture of harmonious living that has long been a strength of the community in Sembrong must continue to be maintained, especially during the Johor State Election (PRN), which often saw differences in political beliefs.

According to him, politics should not be used as a platform to sow hatred or divide relations between races and communities.

“Sometimes politics is used as an opportunity to divide society, but that is not happening in the Sembrong Parliament.

“I feel happy, moved and grateful that such sentiments are not accepted by the public, especially in Kahang and Paloh and Sembrong in general,” he said when met after voting today.

Earlier, Hishammuddin and his wife, Datin Seri Tengku Marsilla Tengku Abdullah, arrived at the polling station at the Taman Sri Lambak Religious Primary School here at about 10.37 am to fulfil their responsibilities as voters in the Johor PRN.

Meanwhile, a total of 42.16 per cent or 1,130,980 out of more than 2.6 million voters have fulfilled their respective responsibilities in the PRN as of 1 pm today.

The Election Commission (EC) via a post on Facebook announced that the Semarang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) and Sedili DUN, respectively, led with a voter turnout of 50.5 per cent, followed by Tanjung Surat DUN at 48.6 per cent.

Penggaram DUN recorded the lowest voter turnout of 32.2 per cent, Bentayan DUN at 32.6 percent while Simpang Jeram DUN recorded 35.2 per cent.

In comparison, the voter turnout for the same period in the 15th Johor general election was 34.51 per cent or 888,605 people out of more than 2.5 million voters. – July 11, 2026
