PETALING JAYA: PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil has urged the police to investigate Perikatan Nasional’s candidate in Padang Serai, Azman Nasrudin, for allegedly calling the unity government a “government of adultery”.
In a Twitter post, the Lembah Pantai MP also urged Azman to return his Datukship that was awarded by the sultan of Kedah in June.
“It is rude of Azman to label the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s unity government as a ‘government of adultery’. He must return the award given and stop using his ‘Datuk’ title.
“(Azman’s remark) is an insult to the sultan of Kedah, who was with the Malay rulers to discuss the appointment of the 10th prime minister. He must be investigated,” he said.
According to Berita Harian, Azman described the formation of the unity government as “kerajaan zina” while on the campaign trail for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat.
He reportedly said the “marriage” between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional to form the federal government had not been agreed upon by many leaders and grassroots members.
Kedah PH leaders will be filing a police report against Azman at the Kulim police headquarters this afternoon.
The Padang Serai parliamentary election was postponed to Dec 7 after PH’s candidate, M Karupaiya, died just before polling day.
Azman is in a six-way fight for the seat with Sofee Razak (PH), C Sivaraj (BN), Hamzah Abdul Rahman (Pejuang), Bakri Hisham (Warisan) and independent candidate Sreanandha Rao.
While Bakri’s name is still on the ballot, he has announced his withdrawal as a candidate.
