Kota Kinabalu: The “Doa Sayangi Malaysia” programme can unite the various races in Sabah.
General Manager of the Sabah Cultural Board (SCB), Mackey Apison said the program is an initiative of SCB to give a chance to non-Muslims to take part in praying for the nation.
“This year is the third year we are having such a program in Sabah.
“Various organisations from different faiths are taking part in this program, including the Bumiputra Christian Association of Sabah, the Kinabalu Singh Sabha Association, the Federation of Chinese NGOs, and the Malaysian Hindu Sangam Association, Sabah branch,” he stated.
“Through this program, we can see the unity and harmony of the various ethnic groups of Sabah,” he said after witnessing a prayer session at the Sri Pasupathinath temple here, Sunday.
Among the highlights of the program was the Special Pooja Doa Sayangi Malaysia, lighting of Kuthu Vilaku and Sangeetham performance.
Meanwhile, Mackey invited members of the public to be present at Tanjung Lipat to witness a Doa Sayangi Malaysia procession by four religious organizations in line with Malaysia Day on Sept 11 at 8pm.
Present at the temple Sunday were Chairman of the Hindu Sangam Sabah Council, Datuk Dr K. Mathavan; Program Coordinator, Nantha Kumar Raman; program director Dr G Mohan; President of Sabah Chinese NGOs, Tan Sri TC Goh; and KK Unity Officer, Normalawati Hassim.
