KOTA KINABALU: A project manager was charged in the Special Corruption Court on Friday with three counts of using forged documents to deceive the Sabah Public Works Department (PWD) into approving payments for a RM46.8 million infrastructure project in the city.

Victor Voo Chung Sain, 50, pleaded not guilty before Judge Jason Juga to submitting falsified documents between Dec 30, 2016, and April 24, 2018, while working as a project manager at a company.

The charges stated that the accused allegedly used fake billed items and site measurement statements containing false details and a forged signature to obtain payments for the construction of a flyover and third lane project at Jalan Lintas/Jalan Kolam and Jalan Tuaran Mile 5½.

Judge Jason set April 14 for mention and granted Voo bail at RM15,000, with RM8,000 to be deposited, under conditions including reporting to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) every two months and surrendering his passport.
