ProLogium Technology has announced the mass production of its Gen 3.5 Lithium Ceramic Battery (LCB) at its commercial gigafactory in Taiwan.
Back in 2022, Mercedes-Benz made an investment in Taiwan-based ProLogium to build the next generation of solid state batteries together. This month, the investment bears fruit with the mass production of Gen 3.5 Lithium Ceramic Battery cells.

Third-party testing confirms significant performance benchmarks:
- Energy Density: A test report from TÜV Rheinland verified that ProLogium’s 185.4 Ah large-format cell delivers a gravimetric energy density of 381 Wh/kg and a volumetric energy density of 903 Wh/L. This footprint reduces the physical pack volume and weight required for electric vehicles while supporting high-power output and rapid charging.
- All-Solid-State Certification: Independent testing by UL Solutions under China’s GB/T 43568-2026 standard recorded a weight loss of less than 0.05% after six hours under vacuum at 120°C. This sits well below the standard’s 0.5% maximum allowable limit, officially qualifying the cell as all-solid-state. The test methodology has also been submitted to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for international standardization.

Logithium Architecture: The Engineering Behind Scalable Production
The Gen 3.5 battery relies on ProLogium’s proprietary Logithium cell architecture, first developed in 2012.
The structure integrates a ceramic separator with a patented edge-frame perimeter that seals electrodes, insulates internal components, and prevents potential burrs from puncturing separators.
By standardizing this physical cell format, ProLogium has progressively scaled its manufacturing across three major iterations without discarding underlying machinery:
- 2013: Initial commercialization using a first-generation sheet-by-sheet manufacturing line.
- 2017: Shift to a continuous roll-to-roll production line, introducing greater automation and throughput.
- 2024: Operational launch of the Taoke Gigafactory, scaling the process to large-format automotive-grade cells.
To date, ProLogium has shipped more than 2.4 million LCB cells globally. The company holds IATF 16949 automotive certification, delivering over 900,000 cells across 175 repeat orders for vehicle audio systems used by a top-three Japanese automaker in North America, alongside supply contracts in the unmanned aerial systems sector.

Next-Gen Continuity: Gen 4 to Share Existing Production Lines
ProLogium’s unified platform approach allows chemical evolutions to occur without overhauling factory tooling.
The upcoming Gen 4 LCB will introduce a fully inorganic superfluidized electrolyte alongside an Active Safety Mechanism (ASM) designed to prevent thermal runaway at elevated temperatures.
Because it retains the Logithium physical architecture:
- Only about 10% of existing gigafactory machinery will require modification to switch from Gen 3.5 to Gen 4 production.
- The chemistry will broaden applications across AI data centers, electric passenger vehicles, maritime vessels, and aerospace equipment.
