KENINGAU: Sabah’s uniqueness and natural beauty can be promoted domestically and abroad through more local films that combine the history, beauty and harmony of the various races.

Sabah Urban Development Corporation (SUDC) Chairman Datuk Jamawi Jaafar said he is confident that a film like Namatai would satisfy the demands of viewers because of the combination of historical storytelling, the uniqueness of nature and racial harmony.

“Besides the producer is a Sabahan native, who is quite experienced in the arts,” he said after the screening for some 200 local film fans from Tenom and Keningau at a cinema here.

Jamawi said many interesting historical stories, especially in rural areas, could be filmed for the current generation so that they would be more interested in knowing local history.
