KUALA LUMPUR – The prosecution has filed applications at the High Court here to forfeit a Range Rover Sport SVR and jewellery seized from the wife of former Army Chief, Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan, Salwani Anuar @ Kamaruddin, to the government.

In the first application, filed on May 4, the prosecution named Salwani, 27, as the respondent. The assets targeted for forfeiture include the vehicle, 916 gold jewellery comprising a 15.1-gram bracelet, three rings (1.33g, 1.41g, and 1.35g), and a pair of earrings weighing 6.64g, with a total estimated value of RM10,930, Sinar Harian reported.

The application was made under Section 45(2) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLATFPUAA) 2001, and the items are currently in the custody of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Deputy Public Prosecutor, Natrah Fareha Rahmat, informed that Deputy Registrar of the High Court, Zaridah Y Abdul Jaapar, has fixed May 19 for case mention.

Meanwhile, in a separate application at the Sessions Court before Judge Rosli Ahmad, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mahadi Abdul Jumaat confirmed the prosecution had filed a similar request concerning additional items.

He said the second application involved 23 luxury Rolex watches and 15 pieces of jewellery belonging to Muhammad Hafizuddeain’s sister-in-law, Nor Shahira Atirah Anuar @ Kamaruddin.

Mahadi also sought a court order to publish a gazette calling on anyone with an interest in the assets to appear in court, in accordance with Section 41(2) of the MACC Act 2009.

Defence lawyer Aizul Rohan Anuar stated that they do not object to the prosecution’s applications.

According to the notice filed on May 4, the prosecution requested that the 23 Rolex watches and 15 pieces of jewellery seized from Nor Shahira Atirah be forfeited to the government.

The applications are made under powers granted by Section 41(1) of the MACC Act, read together with Section 376 of the Criminal Procedure Code, asserting that the movable property seized by the MACC should be forfeited even in the absence of criminal prosecution under the Act.

The prosecution alleges that the assets were acquired from, or are related to, offences under Section 165 of the Penal Code.

On January 22, the accused pleaded not guilty to four counts of receiving proceeds of unlawful activity totalling RM2,122,400 from 2024 to last year. A day later, she faced two additional charges in the Shah Alam Sessions Court for receiving RM145,000 in illicit funds last year.

On the same day, Salwani pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here to four charges of receiving RM77,000 in proceeds of unlawful activity between 2024 and last year.

In Terengganu, on January 26, she faced one charge of receiving RM5,000 derived from unlawful activities, which was deposited into her bank account. - May 11, 2026
