A group of protesters on Saturday ransacked the Phase-3A office of New Horizon Visa Consultant for allegedly duping people on the pretext of sending them abroad.

The firm owners have been accused of duping lakhs of rupees from people in several states, including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan.

The protesters alleged that the firm duped them of large sums of money by promising to secure work visas and PR for Canada, Australia, and other countries.

After continued delays and a lack of contact, people began to suspect a scam.

Some even painted the walls with graffiti. According to eyewitnesses, the incident caused chaos in the office and employees fled the scene.

The police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. The police have launched an investigation and recording statements.

The police also recovered stamps bearing names of various immigration firms. Registers and documents were also recovered, purportedly containing records of transactions and payments made to customers and several high-profile individuals.

A case has been registered. “The Police are currently searching for the absconding owners and a thorough investigation is underway, said Mataur SHO Amandeep Singh.
