KUALA LUMPUR –  PKR deputy information chief Datuk R. Ramanan says opposition leaders who claim to have enough statutory declarations (SDs) to overthrow the unity government must prove it before Parliament.

Ramanan said these alleged claims should not be taken seriously until there was proof to support them.

"Don't pay attention to stories of people claiming that they have enough SDs. Keep in mind that not everyone who makes such claims can become a prime minister, so don't take it into consideration.

“If they have 120 SDs, then they should go to Parliament to prove it,” he said in a press conference after a briefing session with SME Corp.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim declined to comment on the allegations, saying that he had more pressing matters to attend to.

However, he did not provide further details on the matter, including the number of SDs obtained.

This is despite the fact that Perikatan Nasional (PN) denied a statement claiming that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had agreed to grant an audience to 118 MPs

Sanusi’s allegations follow Community Communications Department Deputy Director-General Datuk Ismail Yusop’s claim that a political move, dubbed Langkah Dubai, was under way to overthrow the Madani government.

Last month, in a Facebook post, Ismail said that Langkah Dubai was engineered by PN figures as well as former two-time prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his right-hand man Tun Daim Zainuddin, who is currently being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. – January 9, 2024
