PSA official to testify on Duterte's confidential fund recipient list

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate Impeachment Court will resume the trial of Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday, Sept. 7, 2026, with Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Assistant National Statistician Marizza Grande testifying on the verification of names that appeared in acknowledgment receipts submitted by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) to account for confidential fund expenditures.

Grande is the prosecution’s eleventh witness for Article I, which accuses Duterte of misusing P612.5 million in confidential funds – P500 million released to the OVP and P112.5 million to DepEd.

Her testimony is expected to involve PSA records as the prosecution scrutinizes identities appearing in acknowledgment receipts submitted to support confidential fund liquidations.

Grande previously told the House justice committee that the PSA found no birth, marriage, or death records for Mary Grace Piattos, Kokoy Villamin, and Milky Secuya.

Following the hearings, the PSA reported that 1,322 payees from the OVP's P500 million confidential funds had no birth records.

The PSA reported the same for 405 supposed recipients of DepEd’s P112.5 million confidential funds.
