Did you catch the live broadcast of Parliament a few days back? If you did, you might recall an intriguing moment when Arau MP, Shahidan Kassim, raised a curious point. He questioned whether former Attorney General Idrus Hard would face scrutiny from the Parliamentary Special Select Committee (PSSC) on Human Rights, Elections, and Institutional Reform. The focus? The murky resolution of Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's DNAA (Discharge Not Amounting to an Acquittal) graft cases.

Now, here's where it gets amusing. Kota Melaka MP, Khoo Poay Tiong, a member of the PSSC, let the cat out of the bag. He revealed that the PSSC had indeed decided to summon the former AG, and what's more, Shahidan Kassim, being a PSSC member himself, should've known about this all along.

Yet, Shahidan denied any knowledge of these plans. Kota Melaka MP boldly told the Speaker, “Everyone in the group (PSSC) knows, yet he's the only one claiming ignorance.”

Apart from Shahidan, two other MPs from the Opposition bloc, Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (PN-Besut) and Zahari Kechik (PN-Jeli), are also part of the PSSC.

This whole hullabaloo kicked off when Shahidan (PN-Arau) cast doubts on the emergency motions filed by Perikatan Nasional MPs regarding Ahmad Zahid's graft cases, right after the house adjourned on Monday.

But why did Arau MP raise these questions openly, even before the PSSC had a chance to kick-start their investigation? Especially considering he's part of the committee and should be aware they need time and space to question both the former and current AGs, compile the findings, and present them in Parliament. Was Arau MP attempting to mislead the House? Should the PSSC be rushed into producing half-baked reports under pressure?

Before this, Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul had promised that the matter would be addressed following the 12th Malaysia Plan Mid-Term Review (MTR) presentation.

The chairman of PSSC, William Leong (PH-Selayang), then declared that both former AG Idrus Hard and the current AG, Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh, would be summoned for questioning.

"This is a matter of great public interest. We will present the report once the proceedings are concluded," he confidently stated.
