PHILIPPINE Transmarine Carriers Inc. (PTC) and Jebsen PTC Maritime Inc. (JPMI) have signed a strategic agreement with maritime technology firm Big Yellow Fish (BYF) to roll out data-driven health and preventive care programs for Filipino seafarers.
The agreement was signed on July 23 at First Maritime Place in Makati City by Big Yellow Fish Chief Executive Officer Capt. Soma Gollakota, PTC Vice President for Crewing Operations Engr. Peter Lugue, and JPMI Vice President for Crewing Thess Lunzaga.
Under the partnership, PTC and JPMI will expand access to the Big Yellow Fish platform across their fleets. The platform currently serves more than 120,000 Global Maritime Professionals (GMPs).
The technology provides shipowners and fleet managers with health analytics and vessel risk profiles aimed at mitigating medical emergencies, reducing onboard accidents, and lowering medical repatriation rates.
For seafarers, the mobile platform offers customized modules covering physical fitness, nutrition, mental healthcare, and preventive wellness, incorporating gamification to boost user engagement onboard and ashore.
Diagnostics provider Health Metrics Inc. (HMI), the medical partner of PTC and JPMI, will provide clinical guidance to design tailored health interventions for crew members.
The initiative will initially launch as a pilot program across selected shipping principals to align with specific operational needs before being implemented across broader fleet operations.
