PTPTN in final stages of hibah concept

SHAH ALAM, July 8 - The hibah (gift) concept is currently in the final stages of implementation for two National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) products: Simpan SSPN Prime and Simpan SSPN Plus.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir said the hibah concept under the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) would be implemented once the proposal receives the necessary feedback and approval.

"Currently, PTPTN is in the final stages of introducing a hibah concept for both Simpan SSPN products, which are the Simpan SSPN Prime and Simpan SSPN Plus.

"The implementation of the hibah concept for Simpan SSPN products will proceed once the proposal has received the appropriate feedback and approval from both legal and Shariah perspectives," he said.

Zambry responded via a written reply published on the Parliament website yesterday to Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan’s query about whether SSPN products could incorporate a hibah mechanism.

Syahredzan noted that the mechanism would allow the beneficiary to receive the funds directly into the SSPN account following the death of the depositor or parent, without the need to undergo faraid (Islamic inheritance law) and estate distribution processes.
