KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 — Public Bank Berhad (PBB) founder, chairman emeritus, director and adviser Tan Sri Teh Hong Piow reportedly died this morning at the age of 92.
He passed away peacefully at 10.20am today, according to a report from The Star.
He established the company as a 36-year-old after leaving Malayan Banking Berhad as a general manager, which he served for two years from the age of 34, his biodata on the Public Bank Group website said.
It said he was born in Singapore on March 14, 1930, adding that he married Puan Sri Tay Sock Noy in 1956 and had four children.
His hobbies were reading and photography, it added.
Meanwhile, PBB’s profile on the website Global Data described the company as “a provider of a range of commercial and consumer banking, investment banking, Islamic banking, trustee, stock-broking and nominee services”.
It added that PBB has a presence in Hong Kong, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, China and Sri Lanka, besides Malaysia.
