Public fund management, military bullying among issues to be raised in Parliament today

KEY issues such as public fund management and bullying at the Royal Military College are set to dominate discussions in today's Dewan Rakyat session on Monday.

According to the Order Paper on the Parliament’s website, Pasir Salak MP Jamaludin Yahya will question the Prime Minister during the oral question session on measures to prevent misappropriation of public funds. This follows repeated concerns raised in the Auditor-General’s Report regarding weaknesses in financial management across various government agencies.

Bernama reported that Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is also expected to seek answers from the Defence Minister on steps taken to address bullying incidents at the Royal Military College.

Later, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said will table the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2025 and the Parliamentary Services Bill 2025 for the first reading.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil had earlier described the Parliamentary Services Bill as a crucial step in institutional reform, aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s democratic framework.

The Federal Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2025 also seeks to allow the Dewan Rakyat Speaker and Dewan Negara President to be part of the Parliamentary Council.

The session will then continue with the winding-up debate on the motion of thanks for the royal address, involving several ministries. – February 24, 2025
