THE Mandaluyong City Police Station urged the public to immediately report incidents of sexual assault or any similar incidents so that they can take appropriate legal action and provide necessary interventions.
The call was made in view of a viral social media video posted by an alleged victim regarding an incident involving unwanted sexual remarks or harassment, which falls under the Safe Spaces Act (Republic Act 11313).
In response to the viral social media video, personnel of the Mandaluyong City Police Office visited and spoke with the alleged victim.
The police provided full assistance to officially blotter the incident at the Barangay Plainview VAWC (Violence Against Women and Children) desk.
The police said the victim stated the post was intended solely for public awareness and that she had no immediate plans to file a formal complaint. Nevertheless, the police thoroughly advised her of her rights and the proper procedures should she decide to pursue legal action against the perpetrator.
Through a swift investigation, operatives successfully identified the suspect. Findings revealed that the individual resides in Sta. Ana, Manila, and is reportedly a person with a disability (PWD), who allegedly suffers from a mental health condition.
Furthermore, records and intelligence checks indicate that the individual has been the subject of multiple prior complaints within their local community.
