Minister Zulkifli Hasan advises the public to seek official guidance on religious issues to prevent confusion and misinformation.

PUTRAJAYA: The public should refer any religious matters to the official authorities to avoid confusion. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan made this call today.

He stated that the Federal Territory Mufti Department provides impartial views grounded in the Quran, Sunnah and recognised religious scholars. “Too many people are sharing their opinions, but we have an official authority for this,” he told reporters.

Zulkifli was speaking after participating in the MAIWP Run 2026 event. His comments follow recent questions from an opposition MP regarding the use of Islamic terms by a non-Muslim minister.

The Federal Territory Mufti Department clarified on Friday that non-Muslims may use Islamic terms in daily conversation. It stated this is permissible as long as there is no disrespect, insult or misuse of the terms.

“We should let them provide the best guidance and accept their advice,” Zulkifli added, emphasising the role of the official religious authority.
