“The Cabinet has now approved a 50% toll discount”

According to the statement, the discount applies from 12:01 am on January 27, 2025 (Monday) to 11:59 pm on January 28, 2025 (Tuesday) for Class 1 private vehicles, except for toll plazas at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and Tanjung Kupang (LINKEDUA).

Public Works Minister Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi shared that the initiative will cost the government about RM20.08 million in compensation to toll concession companies.

“My previous announcement regarding free tolls were set to end at Christmas 2024, but the Cabinet has now approved a 50% toll discount for Chinese New Year 2025 to support unity and well-being, made possible by the government’s strong financial position from subsidy rationalization and increased investments,” he explained.

The Ministry of Public Works reminded highway users to take advantage of the toll discount, plan their trips to avoid traffic, and use the MYPLUS-TTA app for travel updates.

They also advised everyone to follow road signs and stay updated on traffic conditions through the Malaysian Highway Authority’s (LLM) social media or by calling 1-800-88-7752.

Wishing everyone a safe and smooth journey this Chinese New Year!
